Entry 1

My reason for taking this course is because it’s different from what I normally take. So far the classes I have gotten used to, aside from the ones in the common core curriculum, are in the STEM field. That’s always been my strong suit and I could go on about technology if I wanted to. My intended major is computer science. I hope to start it during my second year of college, after completing my math course requirements. That being said this class is a great opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone. I want to take various courses while in college, learn something new and interesting and overall get as much as possible out of my four years here. When I took Intro to Com during my first semester, even though I’m not a Com major, I still enjoyed the class and found many of the discussions interesting and I would often way in with my own viewpoint. By the end of the class, I realized that this was still a good skill to have regardless of where I end up. I’m hoping this class will also be a great experience for me, introducing me to new ideas and possibilities. If I’m to be completely honest, I don’t know all that much about the Arab-American community, so there’s not a whole lot of detail I can go into at the moment. I have never really studied literature outside of my English courses, even then it was mostly Shakespeare plays, and essay prompts for MLA format. Hopefully, that will change as time goes on. Unlike previous classes such as Intro to Innovation (my First-Year Seminar) I have no pre-determined mindset, no background knowledge, no nothing. Even then I still got more out of it than I originally thought by this time, it’s all a blank slate.
